At GM Academy you can learn comfortably at your own pace whilst creating bonds with dogs of all different breeds, shapes and sizes. Our busy working salon will let you see what it's truly like to work in a professional salon, giving you that extra boost in confidence to learn how to set up your own business and essential customer care.
 Learners will also get up to date tuition on current animal welfare legislation and best practice, and learn professional techniques from a tutor who has over 14 years experience.
After taking any level three course you can call yourself a qualified dog groomer, however, it is important to consider which training options are right for you, and what level of skill you will need to fulfill your career ambitions. We can help answer any questions first so you can make an informed decision based on your needs and abilities to get the right course for you.

Personal Dog grooming course 

Would you like to learn how to groom your own dog and build an even stronger bond between you and your dog? Do you want a better understanding of how to maintain your dog’s coat? Could you benefit from learning how to use your dog’s grooming equipment properly? Your Money back at an average cost of 3-4 grooms.

Bathing assistant course.

Want to work in a salon but dont have the experience employers are asking for? Or want to work with dogs but don't want to do the styling side of things? This course is aimed at those who want to work in a dog grooming salon but don't yet want to be a stylist or want the experience to get the salon position they are looking for.

Diploma or certificate

There is much more to grooming then simply washing and cutting hair. After taking any level three course you can call yourself a qualified dog groomer, however, it is important to consider which training options are right for you, and what level of skill you will need to fulfill your career ambitions, whether it be working in a salon or branching out and opening your own business.

How do I sign up to one of your packages?

Signing up for our services is easy! Simply contact us through our website or give us a call or WhatsApp to get started.

What are your operating hours?

Our salon operating hours are from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Tuesday - Saturday. Both level 3 courses run from 9am to 5pm. We do however offer a flexible training program to suit your needs, limited additional days may be possible upon request.

Do you offer group training or individual training ?

We offer semi private tutoring at GM academy, this may be 1:1 or 1:2 training for the best possible hands on experience. 

Do I need previous experience?

No, no experience is necessary all training is provided in the courses, All you need is a love for dogs. 

Do you offer payment plans for the courses?

In certain circumstances we can help with a payment plan or pay in 3 installments. Contact Jade to have a chat.

Will there will always be a demand for dog groomers?

Dog groomers are currently in high demand. We are currently at a shortage of groomers due to the amount of dogs bred and puppies born during the lockdowns, yet no groomers were able to be trained during this time. There will always be dogs that require grooming so even in the most difficult of climates there will always be work. 

Are the dog grooming courses accredited or recognized by professionals?

Our courses qualifications are provided by AIM (formally known as OCN West Midlands). AIM is an awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual, the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator in England. AIM is also recognised by the Welsh Government as a suitable qualifications provider. AIM Qualifications is one of the largest and most respected open college networks in the United Kingdom.

I'm not sure if I will like grooming, how can I test this?

We offer a 1 day introduction into dog grooming. Many people who are curious about dog grooming are unaware of what it's actually like to work in a busy salon. On this day you will come in between 10am and 3pm to see and get hands-on experience in the dog grooming industry and ask as many questions as needed.

Is first aid included?

Canine first aid is part of the level 3 certificate and level 3 diploma. You will learn the legal requirements and have hands-on experience and get first aid certified.  For the bathing assistant course you will have a basic introduction and guide into animal first aid.
